The Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI) held a productive partnership meeting with NEDAMCO Africa on 30–31 August 2026 in Addis Ababa to explore opportunities for collaboration in climate policy, digital innovation, and sustainable agricultural development.

As part of the engagement, the HESPI delegation visited NEDAMCO Africa’s Technology Centre, where the team observed digital platforms that support real-time monitoring of agriculture, natural resources, water systems, and carbon-related environmental data. The visit provided valuable insights into the potential application of AI and digital technologies in evidence-based policy and climate resilience.

NEDAMCO Africa is a climate technology company that develops digital solutions for environmental monitoring, climate finance, and sustainable resource management. Its work focuses on applying AI, cloud technologies, and data systems to support climate adaptation and agricultural innovation.

In line with HESPI’s mandate in policy research and institutional capacity development, both organizations identified the following priority areas for future collaboration:

1. Capacity building on transparent and traceable agricultural value chains.
2. Awareness creation on carbon markets and environmental credit systems for farming communities and natural resource management institutions.
3. Training and research on contractual farming and precision agriculture.
4. Joint policy research on legal frameworks, institutional readiness, digital infrastructure, and farmers’ perceptions of carbon trading and climate technologies.
5. Design and implementation of comprehensive baseline surveys to inform evidence-based policy interventions.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue technical discussions and explore collaborative initiatives that strengthen climate resilience through research, innovation, and institutional capacity development.
