With the objective to providing a platform for sharing information, exchanging ideas, and enhancing partnerships among think tanks to develop informed solutions to the pressing development challenges facing Africa, the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) held the 10th Africa Think Tank Summit on October 8 – 11, 2024 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. This year’s event focused on “Evidence-based strategies for sustainable climate financing in Africa”.

Leading thinker, policy makers, researchers, and private sector leader have had enriching discussions and collaborative networking on innovative financing mechanisms, strengthening institutional capacity, and policy and regulation frameworks.

On this 10th Africa Think Tank Summit, the ACBF sponsored the first annual Awards in 2024 to be given to three categories of African think tanks performance. Following the evaluation of the nominations for the best think tanks in the three award categories, the results were as follows:

• Best think tank for Research Outputs: The Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI)
• Best think tank for Policy Influence: African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET)
• Best think tank for Innovation in advocacy: Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA)

The Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute – greatly appreciates and thanks the selection committee of ACBF for honoring HESPI with the “African Think Tank Award 2024 for Best Research Outputs” for its most impactful research publications. This award presentation highlights the critical role of think tanks in providing evidence-based policies for impactful value in shaping Africa’s sustainable economic development and transformation.
