CPA Caroline Vihenda
Country Manager - HESPI Kenya
CPA Caroline Vihenda is the Country Manager for the Kenyan office and an international development professional with over 15 years of experience in Finance, Project Management, and Office Administration across both public and private sectors. At HESPI, she oversees the regional office's performance in business development, project management, finance, HR, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
Caroline holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance option) degree from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. She is registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya (AWAK), where she previously served on the PFM Committee Board. She completed Climate Governance, Diplomacy, and Negotiations Leadership Program from the African Group of Negotiators Expert Support (AGNES), with additional courses in Monitoring & Evaluation, Strategic Planning, Balanced Scorecard and Systematic Review Methods Training at One CGIAR. Caroline is proficient in accounting software such as ERP Microsoft Dynamics Navision and QuickBooks.
Her project experience includes work with the World Bank, USAID, TMEA, KfW Development Bank, African Development Bank, European Union, MFAT New Zealand, DANIDA, various African governments, and county governments in Kenya.
Previously, Caroline was a Finance and Projects Officer at Finnish Consulting Group Kenya, handling finance and monitoring ongoing projects in Africa with FCG Kenya, FCG Sweden, FCG New Zealand, FCG Germany, and FCG Finland. She also served as a Manager at Africa Development Professional Group, focusing on finance, administration, HR, tax matters, and management consultancy for governments and development partners on public sector reforms, civil service reforms, public finance management, institutional development, decentralization, and e-government.
Earlier in her career, Caroline worked as an Accountant at Eco Plan Management Limited, specializing in urban planning and environmental consultancy. In addition, as an Accountant and Audit Assistant at Tax Plan Consulting Limited, and as a School Accountant at Friends Secondary School Dandora, where she established a culture of continuous improvement by challenging existing practices.
In addition to her technical expertise, Caroline possesses excellent communication and writing skills and has a strong ability to conduct research and create effective reports with detailed charts, figures, and tables
