HESPI regional office in Kenya has successfully conducted Coordinated Border Management (CBM) training of trainers (TOT) sessions from 7 to 12 October 2024 in Nairobi to country delegations from six member States of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). Organized on behalf of the IGAD Secretariat with a funding of the EU-Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), the training aimed at equipping a group of trainers from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda with advanced knowledge and skills regarding the legal and soft law tools governing CBM practices, the establishment of joint management practices at border posts and One Stop Border Posts (OSBPs), information and data sharing, joint risk analysis and sharing of infrastructure and equipment at border posts. HESPI also developed a CBM manual on behalf of IGAD that was presented to participants during the workshop.
